Editorial Direction and Publishing
I run publications end to end for national member organizations. I'm the editor of USHPA Pilot, the quarterly magazine of the United States Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association, and Paramotor Pilot, the triannual publication of the United States Powered Paragliding Association.
For both, I own the whole process: planning each issue, commissioning and managing contributors, editing everything from feature stories to how-to guides, and working with the layout team and designer to get it out on schedule. This is ongoing work on retainer, not one piece at a time.

How I Work
I start by working with the organization to understand its goals and what its membership actually wants to read. From there we build an editorial calendar, which can cover the magazine, newsletters, and branded stories. I commission and manage contributors, both freelancers and member submissions, then edit everything that comes in. Alongside that I work with advertisers to get artwork in on time. For print, I work directly with an art director through design and layout. Once initial layouts are done, I review them with staff and approve final files for publication.
