Science Writing

I take research and make it readable. That means summarizing peer-reviewed papers for general audiences, interviewing the researchers behind them, and writing technical and educational material for surveys and science organizations.

I was a geologist first. Master's in glacial geology and paleoclimatology from the University of Maine, fieldwork in Antarctica and Greenland, then several years as a surficial geologist at the Minnesota Geological Survey, where I learned as much about explaining the work as doing it.
